Men’s Processing Group
Each week, Dr. Metta Penhas holds a Men’s Processing Group. This is an in-person group therapy session with 6 to 8 members meeting for 75—minutes. The topics discussed in the group vary from week-to-week based on the needs and struggles of the members in attendance.
Group therapy can help with:
Improving Social Skills
Improving Communication Skills
Building a Community and Support
Increasing Skills and Strategies for Coping with Emotions
Process therapy is just that - processing the needs and concerns of the client as those concerns arise. It tends to be less structured or focused on skill building and more about discussing concerns.
One of the primary benefits of group therapy is having the thoughts and feedback of peers - other people who may be experiencing similar struggles and people who can help share in your success. You are able to receive multiple perspectives from others
Having the group moderated by a licensed psychologist helps in keeping topics on track, using expertise to guide group members through struggles, and providing skills when needed.
